MEC Creecy to launch Pale Ya Rona Carnival

The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation Barbara Creecy, will launch the 4 th annual Pale Ya Rona Carnival, which forms part of the Heritage and Tourism celebrations. The launch will also coincide with the unveiling of the large costume produced by Steven Derek, a costume designer from Trinidad and Tobago .

The Carnival is part of the Creative Industries Strategy which is aimed at developing the creative industries to contribute to economic growth, job creation, community development and urban regeneration. It also provides a platform of skills development in various forms of arts ranging from performance skills, visual arts to costume design.

The Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation will launch Eden Park Hub as part of the Department's programme aimed at enhancing mass participation in sports, arts and culture amongst communities in the Province and also taking young people away from streets and promoting healthy lifestyle amongst the youth.
