Puisano Live Music a Glittering Success

03 November 2009

" Beautiful, amazing, unbelievable, are these bands unsigned. ?" These were some of the reactions and expressions you could hear all over during the Puisano Live music performance held on Sunday 01 st November 2009 at the Masakeng Pub in Soweto as part of the Annual Beer Festival.

Hundreds of people descended upon the venue to experience raw talent and boy were they up for a treat or what. Bands like 4 Seasons, Upbeat Jazz, Quite Storm and Sophia-Town Sisters belted out their best sounds to make sure they leave an unforgettable mark on their potential customers should they turn professional. Even when it started drizzling late in the evening, none of the revelers or performers' spirit could be dampen down, actually more and more people arrived and more and more bands lined up.

The winning formula for the Puisano Live performance initiative is the promotion of live music and live music venues. It is also the involvement of unknown bands which keep revelers anticipating and thereby appreciating the abundance of talent on display. At this level of being unsigned many of the bands do it for the love of music and for sounds which talk to the hearts rather than the pocket. This is where bands still appreciate support and advice from their audiences.

A lead vocalist, Tlou of Quite storm, one of the bands that outperformed itself, acknowledged during the discussion with an impressed audience member that they could reach another level with the inclusion of a horn player- either a trumpeter or saxophonist.

This put truth to words attributed to the founder and leader of the international acid jazz band Incognito Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick, following their participation in the 2009 Cape Town International Jazz Festival that ". music has the ability to speak to people's hearts, to raise one's consciousness and to help us engage with one another.and as musicians, we get nourished and fed by the interaction we have with our audiences ".

The next Puisano Live music interaction will be on the following dates:

•  22 November- Springs State Theatre

•  06 December- Café 52, Sancardia Complex, Pretoria
